Trauma is not a monster inside you

Trauma is not a monster inside you

Trauma is not a monster inside of you.

It is simply life that had nowhere to go.🤍

So often, people come to me afraid of their pain - afraid of what they might find if they finally stop running. They speak about their trauma as if it’s some dark, dangerous thing living inside them… something broken, shameful, or too big to touch.

But trauma is not your enemy.

It is not a flaw or a verdict on your worth.

It is simply undigested life experience - experiences that overwhelmed your capacity to cope at the time.

Trauma is the tears your body needed to release but couldn’t.

The scream you swallowed because it wasn’t safe to make noise.

The trembling your muscles held onto because nobody was there to help you shake.

The loneliness that stayed frozen because you had no one to confide in.

The truth you silenced to keep the peace, to stay loved, to survive.

The sadness that nobody was there to witness.

The fear that remained stuck in a freeze response deep in your bones and muscles and always reminds you about survival.

The anger that stayed stuck in your throat because you couldn’t have a voice for it.

The worries that were never listened to because no one was around.

The despair that no one could soothe and you were left alone and overwhelmed.

When we couldn’t express what we felt, our bodies held it for us.

Not because we are weak.

Because we are brilliantly wired to protect ourselves. To survive with any cost.

This is what I want you to hear today, gently, lovingly, clearly:

There is nothing “wrong” with you.

Your body has simply been carrying what your heart didn’t have support to carry back then.

Trauma is unfinished emotion.

A story waiting for a safe place to be told.

A young part of you asking to be met with patience, softness, and presence.

Healing doesn’t happen by force or by judging ourselves for still hurting.

Healing begins the moment we stop fighting what we feel and start listening to it.

In my work, I always ask:

What is your pain trying to say? What truth have you had to silence?

What emotion was too big for you to feel alone?

When we approach trauma with curiosity instead of fear, with compassion instead of self-blame, something shifts.

The frozen energy begins to move again.

The shakes come. The tears soften. The breath returns.

And the body starts to trust that it no longer has to hold everything by itself.

This is the work - slow, tender, patient.

You don’t have to “fix” yourself.

You only need to meet yourself with the same kindness you would offer a hurting child.

Because healing is not about “being stronger.”

It’s about finally allowing what you once had to push away.

If you are carrying pain that feels heavy, old, or too much…

please remember:

You are not too much.

Your story is not too much.

Your healing is possible.

And you do not have to walk toward it alone.

May you meet your pain with gentleness.

May you give your body permission to release what it has held for far too long.

May you trust that healing is simply the process of becoming whole again -

one breath, one tear, one moment of honesty at a time.

With presence and care,
