“Therapy is expensive.
Healing takes time. It’s not comfortable.” they say.
True.
But also, living with unhealed wounds is more expensive.
It can cost you years of your life, your deepest relationships, your sense of peace, your health, your capacity to love freely, your voice, your dreams.
Sometimes, it costs you the very self you were meant to become.
So many people who’ve walked the path of healing will tell you:
“It was the most important decision I ever made.”
I’ve heard that from my clients and I know this too, because I’ve been walking this path for most of my adult life.
Healing doesn’t always mean therapy. There are many doors that can take you to different paths of healing.
You can heal through creativity, community, conscious parenting, sacred solitude, nature, somatic practices, and spiritual growth.
But if you are thinking about starting therapy… here’s what I want you to know:
1. You don’t need to be “broken” to begin therapy.
You can start because you want more.
More clarity. More inner peace. More connection. More authenticity in your life.
Less pain, yes, but also more truth.
Therapy is not just for crises, it’s for growth, self-discovery, and reclaiming your story.
2. It’s okay to be unsure.
Most people don’t walk into therapy with perfect words for what’s wrong.
Sometimes it’s just a heavy feeling, or a recurring pattern, or a sense that “something is off.”
That’s enough.
You don’t need to have it all figured out, we figure it out together.
3. Your relationship with your therapist is the foundation.
Healing happens in safe relationships.
It’s not just about tools or advice. It’s about being seen, heard, and held without judgment.
That’s why finding a therapist who feels safe, attuned, and aligned with your values is essential.
If it doesn’t feel right, you’re allowed to try someone else. This is your healing, your body, your story.
4. You set the pace.
Therapy isn’t a race.
It’s not about “fixing yourself”, it’s about befriending yourself.
Some days you’ll uncover deep insights. Other days, you’ll just sit with your feelings.
Both are healing.
There’s no right timeline.
Your nervous system knows when it’s ready. And we honor that.
5. You might grieve.
You might cry over the love you didn’t receive.
You might feel anger for what was taken from you.
You might revisit younger versions of yourself and finally say: I see you. I’m sorry you went through that. I’m here now.
This grief is sacred.
It opens the door to liberation.
6. You will learn how to hold yourself differently.
Through therapy, you begin to create an inner home.
You learn to listen without judgment.
To set boundaries without guilt.
To speak your truth without fear.
To meet your needs with tenderness, not shame.
You remember who you were before the world told you to shrink.
7. You might change in ways others don’t understand.
Growth can be lonely.
Not everyone will celebrate your healing.
Some people were comfortable with the version of you that over-functioned, over-gave, and over-apologized.
But therapy helps you let go of survival roles and step into your truth.
That’s not selfish. That’s sacred.
8. Therapy is not about staying forever. It’s about returning to yourself.
The goal is not dependency, it’s integration.
To leave when you’re ready. To come back when you need to.
To walk through life with more awareness, capacity, softness, and strength.
This work is not easy. But it’s deeply worth it. And it’s a radical act of self-love.
And if you are ready to begin… or even just to be curious…
Know this: you don’t have to do it alone.
Your healing is not a luxury.
It is your birthright. You deserve to live a healthy life!
With warmth and presence,🤍
