Are you carrying someone in the silence?

Are you carrying someone in the silence?

For anyone who’s ever said goodbye with love still in their chest. This one is for you.

One of the most challenging times in my work is when I sit with heartbroken people.

The heartbreak was my deepest pain in my own life.

I know how it feels. And it was only when I held space for my pain I was really able to hold space for the deep pain of others.

But every time the experience is deep and painful.

The heartbreak has a special kind of texture.

It’s that sadness when you cannot sleep.

When where it was joy and love, now it’s hollow.

When you let go of someone you still love.

When you close the door after they walked away.

When you realize that without knowing, that was the last time when you hugged that person,

the last time you felt their smell.

That heartbreak when you have to let go of dreams and all that you hoped to live with them.

When you see them go but you can’t stop the feeling.

The love.

The longing.

That missing feeling of being with them.

That heartbreak when you try to understand,

you can convince your mind but your heart doesn’t understand that language.

That heartbreak when you have no words, just silence.

A painful silence that you can’t run away from.

That heartbreak that you carry because you dared to open your heart.

And then you had to pick up the pieces and never get back to how it was before.

Because after a heartbreak you are not the same anymore.

You learn to breathe again, but differently.

You smile, but it carries the echo of something you lost.

You keep living, but something in you is quieter now.

Wiser. Softer.

More tender with what love means.

And you carry them.

In the silence.

In the in-between.

In the parts of your heart that still remember.

Not because you didn’t let go.

But because some loves shape us forever.

Some goodbyes never leave completely.

And maybe… they’re not meant to.
